Travel Insurance
Travel insurance for adventurers
There are lots of different reasons people go overseas, and lots of different things they do when they get there! Depending on what you’ve got planned, you may need extra insurance cover. Strap yourself in for the ride…
Are you going on an extended break?
You can typically buy travel insurance either for a specific trip or to cover you for a whole year. However, these policies will normally only cover you for a certain number of days at a time.
If you are going travelling for a whole year, or even just several months, you’ll need a policy which covers you for a much longer period. And for all the different countries you’re going to visit.
Bit of a daredevil?
Many holiday activities are covered as standard on most travel insurance policies but there are some things which you need to get extra cover for.
Any winter sports need specific insurance and you should also be ready to get additional cover for things like quad-biking, scuba-diving and bungee jumping.
Taking it easy on a cruise…
You might think a cruise is one of the safest holidays you can go on but it still needs specific insurance. Being on a cruise means you are a long way from medical care in an emergency and could need air-lifting off the ship, so be sure to buy the right cover before you set sail.
Check the official advice
Going somewhere more unusual? The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has important advice about local customs and risks to watch out for.
Insurance is unlikely to cover you if you go somewhere the FCO advises against travelling to, but if the advice changes while you’re there it can help you get home safely.
